The Foundation for science Innovation and Development (FSID) at IISc Bengaluru, the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi, and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) have signed a collaboration agreement to create and support a production-grade open-source codebase for the development of 5G, 5G Advanced, and 6G mobile networks.
The initiative is backed by seed funding from the Ministry of Electonics&IT (MritY), and builds on the Indian Open-Source Platform for End-to-End 5G network (IOS-5GN),according to a joint statement released on Thursday.

Prof. Murthy has developed advanced physical layer technologies and solutions for beyond 5G/6G systems. As the lead PI of the 5G testbed at IISc, he has helped build a low-cost open-source 5G stack, called IOS-MCN, for telecom upskilling and rapid prototyping of products and solutions in a variety of use cases. He has imparted deep communications systems knowledge to both industry and students through various short- and long-term courses. He has also contributed to several national missions and study groups related to communication technologies.
